Daytime running lights are a safety feature built into many cars, including the Mini Cooper. Although having these lights is a safety feature, for some they are nothing more than a nuisance. Fortunately, the lights can be turned on or off depending on the needs of the vehicle owner. The unfortunate part is that this process is not as simple as it is with other vehicle makes and models.
Find your local dealer. The Mini Cooper dealer closest to you may be the one that purchased your vehicle from you. If it’s a long trip, make an appointment.
Let the dealer handle it. Only Mini Cooper dealers can program the daytime running lights to come on or off. If they are on, they will light up every time the ignition is started and the car is started.
Ask your dealer to program the daytime running lights to turn them off. This will set your car to not turn on the lights and you will need to manually turn on the headlights if you need lighting.
- Daytime running lights use their high beam halogen bulbs at 50 percent power. When turning on the headlights, the xenon bulbs will run at full power.
