The Toyota 1JZ-GTE engine features a cast iron block, aluminum cylinder head with two belt-driven overhead camshafts (DOHC) and four valves per cylinder (24 total). The 1JZ-GTE is equipped with an electronic fuel injection system, VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence) since 1996, ACIS variable length intake manifold.

the first generation The Toyota 1JZ-GTE’s had a compression ratio rating of 8.5: 1, twin CT12A turbochargers arranged in parallel and blowing through a side or front mount intercooler and was manufactured from 1990 to 1995. This version produced 280 PS (206 kW; 276.2 HP) at 6,200 rpm of maximum power and 363 Nm (37.0 kg · m; 267.9 ft · lb) at 4,800 rpm of maximum torque.
the second generation It had an increased compression ratio ratio of 9.0: 1, VVT-i system on the intake camshaft, ETCS or ETCS-i system (for Toyota Chaser JZX110 and Toyota Crown JZS171). This engine belonged to the Toyota BEAMS (Breakthrough Engine with Advanced Mechanism System) engine family. The engine received a reworked cylinder head, modified water jackets to improve cylinder cooling, new shims with a titanium nitride coating, and a single CT15B turbocharger. The second-generation 1JZ-GTE engine produced 280 PS (206 kW; 276.2 HP) at 6,200 rpm of horsepower and 378 Nm (38.6 kg · m; 279 ft · lb) at 2,400 rpm of peak torque.

The Toyota 1JZ-GTE engine has a cast iron cylinder block, the bore is 86.0 mm (3.39 inches) and the stroke is 71.5 mm (2.81 inches). The cylinder block, a special cast one-piece structure, employs the seven-bearing support system. The crankshaft has seven journals and twelve counterweights; both the pins and the journals were induction hardened.
The pistons are made of special cast aluminum. Each piston is equipped with two compression rings and a single oil ring. The compression ratio for the first generation 1JZ-GTE without VVT-i system is 8.5: 1, for the second generation (BEAMS) with VVT-i, it is 9.0: 1.
