the Toyota 2AZ-FE It is a 2.4 L (2,362 cc, 144.14 cu in) inline four-stroke naturally aspirated gasoline engine from the Toyota AZ family. This engine was manufactured by Toyota Motor Company since 2000 at the Kamigo Plant, the Shimoyama Plant, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc.
The Toyota 2AZ-FE features a lightweight aluminum block with slim cast iron cylinder liners and a 16-valve DOHC aluminum head with four valves per cylinder (two intakes and two exhaust).
The 2AZ-FE engine is equipped with ETCS-i (Electronic Intelligent Throttle Control System), VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence) on the intake camshaft, MPFI sequential fuel injection system, DIS ( direct ignition system) with a coil ignition for each spark plug. The 2AZ-FE engine is also equipped with the “Electronic Spark Advance” (ESA) system, which selected the optimal ignition timing according to the sensor inputs.

The 2AZ-FE has an open deck lightweight aluminum alloy cylinder block with cast iron liners and a die cast aluminum crankcase. The lining is thin so that it is not possible to pierce. The forged steel crankshaft has eight counterweights and is supported by five main bearings. The crankshaft is made of forged steel and the balance shaft drive gear is installed on the crankshaft. The piston is made of aluminum alloy and the skirt area is compact and lightweight. The connecting rods and caps are made of high-strength steel to reduce weight.
