It should come as no surprise that 2020 wasn’t a great year to sell a million dollar mansion. Luxury real estate markets around the world were already suffering a recession even before the Covid-19 pandemic took its toll on the global economy. So this year, our list of the most expensive homes is fuller than ever with nine-digit deals, and repeat entries from 2019. Of course, that won’t stop the top-notch housing market from shaking up, even if it’s slower. And if you’re going to quarantine somewhere, you could do worse than one of the awesome properties below. Here, the 25 most expensive homes currently on the market worldwide.
25. Stonewall Farm, Westchester County, New York – $ 100 million
This 740 acre property is one for the equestrian ensemble. The owner, Calvin Klein co-founder Barry Schwartz, placed three massive barns on the property, in total there is room for 88 horses, plus a racetrack and fenced paddocks. Your accommodation is just as spacious: the main residence is a massive 24,000-square-foot building designed in the colonial style and featuring one of the most impressive libraries we’ve seen, with two-story books and a spiral staircase. Also on the property is a 60 foot pool, gardens and a butterfly house. But if you like horses, you will most likely saddle up and ride one of the many nature trails on the property.
24. Orchid House, Malibu, California – $ 100 million
Homeowners know this 12,500-square-foot beauty as Orchid House, but to the rest of the world, it’s “That house Pierce Brosnan is selling.” The former 007 called the property his home for 18 years, so it’s a gloomy farewell, though not too tearful for sure, as he’s heading to Hawaii with his wife, filmmaker Keely Shaye Smith, according to the Wall street journal“One that’s obviously worth a nine-figure price.” There is no denying that, architecturally, the house is beautiful. Brosnan was inspired by Thai architecture after his filming time. Die another day in Thailand and hired architects Ralph and Ross Anderson to create the teak-centric property. So while the inspiration may be tied to James Bond, it seems like a more luxurious complex than a secret spy headquarters.
2. 3. Villa Theole Sur Mer, France – $ 105 million
This Cannes estate is not like the others. If anything, it’s more of a 164-foot infinity pool with some added beds and baths. It is surrounded by four houses of approximately 3,000 square feet, plus two 800-square-foot apartments. It sits on nearly three acres of land with 240-degree views of the coastline and includes a separate spa area and pool house. Each of the houses has its own theme, which is reflected in its designs, which include varnished wood, water and light, among others. Of course, since there isn’t a sprawling mansion on the property, it may not be for everyone, but if you’re looking for the perfect pool, it doesn’t get better than this (or, frankly, more expensive).
22. South Ocean Boulevard, Palm Beach, Florida – $ 110 million
When it comes to Palm Beach real estate, there is nothing more luxurious than Billionaire’s Row. Real estate moguls like Ken Griffin have claimed their right to the picturesque strip of land, and Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club is on the way. But even for the area, the $ 110 million price tag for 1341 South Ocean Boulevard is a question. Only one house in the neighborhood has been worth this much: a property called La Follia, which sold for $ 110 million last year. South Ocean has been in and out of the market for a few years despite its impressive specs – 28,400 square feet on two acres of …
