Ducati is preparing to add a Pikes peak version of Multistrada V4 and another Scrambler variant for the 2021 model year. A Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak makes perfect sense, as Ducati has offered a similar variant for the previous 1260 and 1200 Multistradas. Ducati continued to offer a Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak even after switching from the ‘Strada to a Streetfighter V4 prototype for the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (which we will always remember from Carlin Dunne’s tragic accident).

Although motorcycles can no longer compete at Hill Climb, the tradition seems to continue, as the US Environmental Protection Agency certification for the 2021 Multistrada V4 includes a variant of Pikes Peak. Beyond using the same engine, the certification does not tell us what to expect from the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak 2021. However, we can make some guesses based on how previous Pikes Peak motorcycles did.
The 2020 Ducati Multistrada 1260 had a special Corse livery and Öhlins suspension, among other improvements.
The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak used Öhlins suspension instead of the Skyhook suspension from the 1260 S, so we can probably expect the same here. The previous Pikes Peak Multistrada had forged light alloy wheels, and that should return for the V4 version as well. Naturally, the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak will have its own distinctive color scheme.

In the meantime, we think Ducati may be adding a new Glossy encoder icon to its 2021 lineup. For one thing, Australia’s vehicle certification system includes the Bright variant alongside Icon Dark and Nightshift. The plain old “Encoder Icon” was not mentioned in the presentation, so it is possible that “Bright” was just a description to differentiate it from the Dark Icon. However, the Scrambler Bright icon also appears on the download page for the owner’s manual from the Ducati website, cataloged as the 2021 model. Icon, Dark icon Y Night shift They are also listed separately on that page as 2021 models, suggesting that the Bright is a completely separate variant.
Australian certification included the image below. This Scrambler has the wire spoke wheels, flat handlebar, bar end mirrors and dual exhaust from the Nightshift, but a bright yellow paint and the seat and seat cover are similar to the ones on the Nightshift. Scrambler Full Throttle that did not return for 2021. The fuel tank, however, does not have the silver side panels of the Icon models, making it less of an “Icon Bright” and more of a… ”Dayshift”?

Either way, it looks like Ducati has at least two more model variants to add to its 2021 lineup. We look forward to hearing more details on the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak and Scrambler Icon Bright soon.
