Whether you’re buying a new truck, looking for a box top, or just finding out how much a truck can carry, it’s important to know that truck boxes come in all sizes.
Truck size: truck bed measurements
Truck manufacturers offer a variety of truck size options. From compact to large in size, the size of the truck bed depends on the size of the truck itself. Many trucks, regardless of size, are also offered in short bed or long bed configurations.
Short Beds: measurements of a truck
Kanopy Kingdom, a truck canopy sales company, has compiled a customer-friendly platform sizing chart for a wide range of truck sizes. Short bed trucks, for example, have humbler dimensions, around 76 to 82 inches long and around 60 to 72 inches wide.
Long Beds: truck bed width
Get more cubic feet of your hauling space by opting for a long bed truck. While the width is often still similar to that of short beds, the length of a long bed can extend to more than 100 inches on some full-size trucks.
Other Considerations: measurements of a box
In addition to the size of the truck and platform, some models can be purchased with special options, such as stepped platforms. Such options can reduce the width of the standard truck bed.
