When is the GTA 6 release date? It’s hard to tell, as Rockstar generally releases a new entry to the franchise every four to five years, which means we should have had one two years ago. However, as you know, we got Red Dead Redemption. Hardly a rough compensation, sure.
The previous Grand Theft Auto game was almost inconceivably massive and entertaining. It’s no wonder we’re so desperate for a GTA 6 release date. The game’s sales figures are off the charts too, and the number of players is still impressive years after launch. This is largely due to Rockstar’s excellent and consistent updates to GTA Online. So naturally we’re thinking a lot about what’s coming next – GTA 6.
While Grand Theft Auto 6 has yet to be announced, we are looking forward to some GTA 6 news soon. Our insatiable appetite for scathing satire and a good carjacking knows no bounds. We’ve put together all the latest GTA 6 rumors in one place with our suggestions of what we’d like to see, no matter what form the new Grand Theft Auto ends up taking. Here’s everything we know about GTA 6:
GTA 6 release date
When is GTA 6 coming out? If the series’ typical development timeline of roughly four to five years between entries is anything to go through, we should have gotten GTA 6 in 2018.
With no E3 2020 and no news from Rockstar at the Summer Game Fest, there is also absolutely no indication of when we will hear more about the next GTA game.
We know that when stunt actor Tim Neff’s CV appeared claiming he had credits in Grand Theft Auto 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2, it turned out to be false. Actually, it should have been obvious – the CV did not match Neff’s IMDB page, it had spelling errors, and Rockstar did not immediately remove it once the story became widely known.
When we asked Neff for the details, he said: “That is not my page, account or resume. I don’t even know that website. I worked on GTA 5 a long time ago and haven’t done anything since. Sorry for the confusion. They seem to be monitoring me a lot online. “
It’s also not the first time that GTA 6 has appeared on someone’s CV. A 3D artist who briefly worked for the Rockstar India branch included a mention of GTA 6 on his resume before it was removed. According to Bibin Michael, he worked on creating concept vehicles that match the real world for GTA 5 and GTA 6. ApolloThunder, a member of the GTA forums, also noted that Michael is credited on the thank you page for Red Dead Redemption 2, which supports the claim that it has worked. with Rockstar in the past, at least.
GTA 6 News
Today we tend to wait the better part of a decade between new games like GTA and Borderlands, but that might not necessarily be the case in the future. In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick suggested that better development tools and bigger teams could bridge these gaps. It could also mean that such “games can be a bit shorter” while still having solid support after launch.
To mitigate the time of crisis is another reason why the next GTA could be shorter, as Kotaku says in his report, “A plan that management has put in place for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start with a moderate-sized release (which, by Rockstar standards, would still be a big game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which can help mitigate stress and crisis. ”Employees Rockstar are talking about the positive changes the company is making after it was vetted after the critical time of Red Dead Redemption 2. Although there is no timeline in a GTA 6 yet, it means the next GTA could be a bit smaller when released.
We might as well go home now, actually: Grand Theft Auto 6 is out now on, uh, PlayStation 2? Last year we noticed questionable-looking GTA 6 box art in a photo posted to Reddit from a smuggling post in Brazil. Using our well-practiced reporting nous, we found that the box art might not be entirely legitimate. Either that, or Rockstar is showing consoles two generations ago an unlikely love affair, and Summer Glau has made her debut in a live-action video game.
Speaking of fake GTA 6 ads, another one popped up in July 2018, courtesy of GTA Online. If you were logged into Rockstar’s long-running multiplayer at the time, you may have seen a message that said “GTA VI Coming 2019.” This message only appears on GTA Online platforms that are more prone to hackers, so perhaps a particularly naughty guy has figured out how to post to Rockstar’s ad system. Besides this, there is very little news of GTA 6.
gta 6 rumors
Since there have been no official announcements, the internet has a lot, at the moment, unfounded rumors and speculation about GTA 6.
The most recent GTA 6 rumor, as it appears on Reddit, indicated that the news would come during SuperBowl LV. Last year’s big game took place in Florida and there were references to GTA Vice City all over the place, especially some broadcasters displaying posters with the fonts and style of GTA Vice City. Fox Sports also had a lot of graphic overlays on its stream, most notably the minimap and health gauges.
The SuperBowl in 2021 took place in Florida, with The Weeknd headlining the halftime show. Fans had speculated that this is important because The Weeknd has been linked to GTA 6 before in a music video. However, this is just a user comment that was included in the video via a “Son of Cita” billboard that says “Dis was in the GTA 6 trailer”. When the SuperBowl halftime show happened, a link to GTA 6 was not reported.
The previous GTA 6 rumor is from 2018, and it’s a bit around, so bear with us on this one. A supposedly leaked screenshot of the GTA 6 map made it to the GTA and Reddit forums, but its apparent validity comes from the fact that it coincides with a similar leak from 2018.The new map shows a Central American-inspired island in the early stages. developmental. , but it is roughly the same shape as the previous leak.
Of course, this could all be nonsense and the fake could have been planned to match the map above. However, that doesn’t stop fans from getting excited about a possible remake of the iconic Vice City.
Before that, the latest GTA 6 rumor comes from actor Jorge Consejo’s online CV, who lists GTA 6 as a title in which he plays a character listed as ‘The Mexican’ from 2018. Advice has been addressing, and not addressing, the rumors. on Twitter, simply fanning the fire with responses like “I can neither confirm nor deny this. But I read your tweet;) ”and“ Although I read every message from you, keep in mind that due to the stipulations of the contract sometimes I cannot comment on certain projects ”, sounds promising.
Another GTA 6 rumor comes from Rockstar’s tax returns of all things. TaxWatchUK reports that the latest published accounts from Edinburgh-based Rockstar North reveal a huge increase in video game tax relief applications. The report then speculates: “Studios may make interim claims for VGTR before a game is completed, and the huge claims submitted by Rockstar are likely related to GTA VI production costs. As VGTR is related to production spending, the big claim indicates the scale of Rockstar’s spending on game development. “
Of course, there have also been many job postings over the years. Rockstar Leeds posted a job posting for an environmental artist, whose job will be specifically to ‘create and texture environmental assets for the biggest and best open world environments in the industry’. This could well point to the development of GTA 6, although nothing more specific can be drawn.
At Rockstar North, they are looking for a costume and character wardrobe stylist who has “a deep appreciation for history and the cultural importance that clothing plays in society; from bygone eras to modern and global urban styles and trends ”. If this is for GTA 6, it looks like we could be going back in time, at least for part of the campaign.
Twitter user @ Yan2295, a Rockstar expert known for leaking information in the past, has drawn attention to a number of possible leads circulating on the Internet.
Second, there is this. The source seems questionable and out of nowhere, although this kind of exploration is real. I really doubt this is legitimate. pic.twitter.com/Fq3nyHzOcb

Circulating on Reddit and Twitter is a photograph of a letter allegedly written by location manager Leah Sokolowsky, containing a request on behalf of the Rockstar Games development team to visit ‘primarily… indoor spaces’ in Florida so they can research and photograph. these locations to inspire in-game locales. If legit, this fits in nicely with the Project Americas theory promoted by the Inside Gaming YouTube channel, which aims to visit Vice City (Rockstar’s Miami) and South America in GTA 6. Giving even more credit to the Vice City theory is simple. fact that we are talking about GTA VI… VI-ce City? Not? It works so well.
As for when we can expect more news about GTA 6, actor Steven Ogg, the voice of Trevor in GTA 5, mentioned at the Brazil Game Show that we can expect GTA 6 ‘soon’ and that ‘the games take between 7 and 8 years. to be done, do the math. ‘ Ok, let’s do the math. GTA 5 was released in September 2013, so the anticipated release date of GTA 6… 2021? This seems unlikely at this point.
GTA 6 history
A GTA 6 story could take any form. Throughout the Grand Theft Auto series, the narratives have covered a wide spectrum of ideas and tones, from the cynical critique of capitalism portrayed in GTA 4, to the relatively light and humorous GTA 5.
We don’t know of any specific GTA 6 story paces yet. It remains to be seen if there will be multiple protagonists once again, but we would love to see GTA 6 announce the inclusion of the first female protagonist of GTA. In a 2013 interview with The Guardian, Dan Houser explained why you couldn’t play a woman in GTA V and how the team could make this happen in the future.
“We didn’t really think about it this time. [of GTA V]. That is not to say that we could not or would not. This character set is just what came to us: it wasn’t, ‘We have X and Y, so we need Z’, we weren’t trying to do it from a checklist, I don’t think that would ever give us something that is credible or attractive.
“In the future, could we make a game with a main female character? Of course. We haven’t found the right game for it yet, but it’s one of the things we always think about. It didn’t feel natural for this game, but definitely the right game going forward; with the right themes, it could be fantastic. “
We certainly agree. If Rockstar could imbue a female lead with her typically anarchic sense of humor, she could be one of the greats of PC games. And from…
