A little over a month ago we knew the news that Elephone officially arrived in Spain, where they would bring some of their already presented terminals and announced a future mobile phone, the Elephone S7. Of this phone we knew some specifications that, finally, only correspond to one of the versions.
The Elephone S7 It comes with three different versions according to its RAM memory and its storage, with the two most powerful versions having several colors to choose from. Apparently, in addition, there are also different screen sizes, although in its official store all Elephone S7s have the same size.
A design that will be very familiar to us
In these times finding a really original design, like that of the Xiaomi Mi Mix for example, is really difficult, and on more than one occasion a terminal can remind us of one or two terminals from other manufacturers. The case of the Elephone S7, unfortunately, is not one of these exceptions.
We meet a tremendously similar design to the Galaxy S7 with his back curved around the edges. Of course, their beauty is unquestionable, and the range of colors, in conjunction with their construction in, according to the web, aluminum, makes them much more showy than the more “classic” colors.
At the front, finally, the screen will not have the curve the same as that of the Galaxy S7 Edge, but rather this is the typical 2.5D curvature how popular it has become. The physical ‘Home’ button would also function as a fingerprint sensor, giving this terminal even more similarity to this year’s first flagship from Samsung.
Different hardware versions for each user
The Elephone S7 comes, in all its versions, with the processor MediaTek Helio X20, which should perform well on any occasion. The first difference that we find between the versions is the RAM, having 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB, and in storage, where we will see versions of 16 GB for the 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB for the 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB for the 4 GB of RAM.
In addition, we will also find two different screen sizes, a version with 5.2 inches and the other 5.5 inches. In both cases the resolution will be FullHD and will use IPS technology, being the manufacturer Japan Display. In the store, however, we will only find, at the time of writing, the 5.5-inch version.
As for the cameras, on paper they should be sufficient for a normal user. In the back we find 13 MP with aperture f / 2.2, autofocus and LED flash, while in front we have a camera of 5 MP. To power this Elephone S7, a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery is included.
In the connectivity section, if you fear that it does not support LTE with the 800 band, you do not have to worry, since it would support these networks. Also we have FM Radio, Dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with A-GPS. What we don’t have, however, is an NFC chip.
The “explosion proof” guarantee, your biggest claim
One of the main claims of this terminal is that the manufacturer guarantees that the user will be safe from any battery explosion. First of all, they claim to have ensured that the battery is totally safe, seeking, at the expense of the Note 7, to earn a small sales hook.
But also, ensure that there is an “explosion proof” membrane to protect the user against any unforeseen event. And if that was not enough, there would be a TPU shell to increase protection in the event of explosions, although we must not forget that Elephone ensures that these batteries are safe.
If true, and with the price of these terminals, it would be a good hook to make users acquire this terminal, tactic that can perhaps be seen later in other manufacturers with more or less repute.
Availability and price of the Elephone S7
As we said, this terminal comes in three versions of different memories, and for now in the store they are only with 5.5 inches of screen. The 2 GB / 16 GB version, only in gold, is for € 127; the 3 GB / 32 GB one, available in green, € 154.24, while the 4 GB / 64 GB one ranges in prices from € 208.70 in blue to € 217.78 in black.
All of them are already available for pre-sale at the prices mentioned, although there are more colors for the 3 and 4GB RAM versions, but they do not appear in the store. However, the price of each color varies despite having the same specifications.
