Mobile phones are the kings of the Xiaomi catalog, but there is also a small gap for tablets, a gap that has just been expanded with the arrival of a new large-format model. It’s about the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus, the brand’s first tablet with a 10.1-inch screen.

Until now, Xiaomi had stayed in the eight-inch band with the Mi Pads, a line of tablets that was born in 2014 with a clear inspiration from the iPad Mini. The latest model, the Mi Pad 4, was announced in June of this year and now it already has an older sister. Let’s see what the new Xiaomi tablet.

This is how Xiaomi makes money – they attract you and they catch you

In the image above these lines it is clear that Xiaomi has maintained the same design line of the Mi Pad 4, so the main difference of this ‘plus’ model is its size. We still have a metal chassis, which causes the weight to also increase to 485 grams.

Screen size change raises the diagonal to 10.1 inches in the same format as the small model (16:10) and also the same resolution (1,920 x 1,200), so there is a decrease in density up to 224 dots per inch.

On the front there is also space for the 5 megapixel front camera and the fingerprint reader located at the bottom, which is complemented by an intelligent facial unlocking system like the one on the Mi Pad 4. Behind it is the rear camera, which in this case has 13 megapixels of resolution.

Repeating processor but adding memory and battery

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus

We have already seen how the Mi Pad 4 Plus is on the outside, now it’s time to raise the hood and see what we find inside. On the processor, Xiaomi keeps the Octa-core Snapdragon 660, accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and two capacity options. The Mi Pad 4 Plus offers 64 GB for the base model and 128 GB for the more complete version, which is a significant leap from its little sister.

With the increase in size of your screen, it is inevitable that the battery will follow the same trend and in this case we have 8,260 mAh capacity, which a priori should offer a fairly long autonomy. In closing, note that the Mi Pad 4 Plus will only be marketed in a variant with WiFi + 4G and comes standard with Android 8.1 Oreo.

Versions and prices of the Mi Pad 4 Plus

At the moment, Xiaomi does not sell its tablets in Europe and it seems that it will continue like this if they continue to call them My Pad since, according to the European Union, it looks too much like the name of Apple tablets. That is, we do not expect to see the Mi Pad 4 in Spanish territory soon, but it can be purchased from China through the usual channels.

In China, the price of the tablet is 1,899 yuan for the 64GB model, 242 euros at the current exchange rate, while the 128GB version goes up to 2,099 yuan or 267 euros. The Mi Pad 4 Plus will go on sale in China on August 16 in gold and black.
