The Internet is full of millions of free resources of all kinds, and if you are a designer, illustrator, developer, or none of the previous three but you need good quality graphics for your projects and you can’t afford licenses, luckily you have plenty of options.

Many illustrators and designers offer free collections of their creations as a way to collaborate with the community, make themselves known, or even as a way to promote personalized and premium versions of those same resources. If you are looking for illustrations, vectors, patterns, or a mixture of these, here are a dozen alternatives to download completely free.


humaaans is a gallery of illustrations of human figures so you can combine and create your own scenes, and it also includes a design library to use in Sketch or InVision. You can also find all the resources in PNG and SVG formats in Dropbox, from multiple body parts to objects and scenes to use in the background and compose an image.

DrawKit is a collection of fully customizable vector illustrations and free to use that you can download for free in SVG format to include in your projects. Each illustration is offered in two styles: color or black and white, and new images are constantly being added to the project.

All content is published under an MIT license, so you can use them in personal or commercial projects. Its creator is James Daly.

Absurd design


Absurd Design is an experiment by designer Diana Valeanu that consists of a collection of abstract illustrations, or as she describes them “absurd illustrations that make sense“They are handmade drawings with plenty of room for interpretation and that can give your projects an interesting and human touch.

You can download the first 11 images of the project completely free of charge and you are free to use them in both personal and commercial work, although it always encourages you to at least give credit with a link to the site.



Mixkit is one of my favorite sites on this list, since it is a whole library of digital art in which you can find more than 300 beautiful high-quality illustrations to use completely free.

The illustrations are organized into a few categories such as “emotions”, “activities”, “animals” and much more, but you also have a search engine. Everything is free for both personal and commercial use, and has been created by professional illustrators.
