Watermarks allow a photographer, group or company to place a distinction on the image so that it is known whose authorship is. It is a very common practice on the internet when you want to preserve the value of the author in an image that will surely, based on its quality or interest, travel the web and be widely distributed.
There are users for and against but beyond that we want to dedicate this article to how we can add watermarks to our photos from your Android mobile or tablet. Fortunately, there are many applications that allow you to add them in a really easy way, adjust their size, position, color and shape. If you only have your smartphone at hand and you want your images to be registered with your logo, here are our recommendations.
How applications work to add watermarks
We have chosen three applications for this little tutorial. On the one hand we have Add Watermark, available in a free version and in a paid version that for € 2.39 becomes one of the most complete. Then ‘Watermark on photo’ advertised and somewhat limited, but very useful. And finally Salt, focused on adding the logo on the photos and also quite effective.
Must distinguish between those that allow us to simply add text and those that allow us to choose an image. The first will help us to write a message and place it in the place we want, but the interesting ones are the second. In the case of Engadget Android for example, what we have is a .png with the web logo.
All applications allow us select the size and location of the logo, but not all of them allow us, for example, to rotate the image easily, edit it in a simple way or establish transparency. For the latter, the only one that is truly designed to configure these details is the paid version of Add Watermark.
Another difference between the free version and the pro version is that in the first one we can only save the images as a 1024 pixel .jpg. More than enough on many occasions but a limitation at the end of the day.
In the paid version we can add stickers, it is compatible with panoramas and we can quickly access 20 watermarks that we have previously used. A very complete application also designed for tablets or Chromebooks, where Android apps are now increasingly relevant.
Here we leave the links to Google Play so that you can download these applications for free to add watermarks. Adding the logo as we see is very simple, another thing is to make a good photo for which it is worth adding the logo.
