Youtube follow the steps of Google’s activity history and it already allows us automatically delete our playing history. We can say how long we want to keep YouTube history.
This feature announced this week is already available to everyone, and that is why we are going to explain how this new privacy setting is configured from the application YouTube for Android.
Automatically delete your playing history
If we do not want YouTube to remember the videos we have played and the searches we have made through the times of the times, we have to perform these steps to activate automatic deletion:
- Opens Youtube for Android.
- Click on your profile icon and enter Settings.
- Accede to History and privacy and then enter Manage all activity.
Once inside the configuration YouTube history, we have to find the card “The activity will be kept until you delete it manually” and click on “Change this setting”.
There we can already choose if we want to save for 3 months, for 18 months or until we delete the history manually. Keep in mind that YouTube uses history to improve its recommendations, the longer the history is activated, the better these recommendations will be.
Once a period of time has been selected, we just have to confirm. At that time, the videos seen that exceed the new period will be deleted from the history and it will automatically begin to delete the activity with more than 3 or 18 months, depending on the selected option.
Clear and pause history
If, on the other hand, we want to completely erase the YouTube history, we just have to select the option Clear watch history Y Clear search history within the section Settings> History and privacy from the YouTube app.
We can also pause the history so that it stops saving it in our Google account by activating the options Pause watch history Y Pause search history.
