For whatever reason, sometimes you prefer to keep things private. That includes hiding photos, files, and much more, including applications. If you don’t want some applications to be visible to the naked eye, here we will see some solutions to hide them.
On Android, the task of hiding apps falls to the pitcher. In fact, the pure Android launcher does not include this feature, so you will have to install another one from Google Play. Launchers own customization layers generally do include the option.
In Nova Launcher
Nova Launcher is one of the most popular launchers on Google Play, and unsurprisingly, it includes the ability to hide apps. It is quite simple, since it is done from the direct access itself in the app drawer.
The process consists of three steps. First, do a long tap on the app you want to hide until its context menu is displayed. Choose there Edit and finally uncheck its box in the Apps tab (and if you have more tabs, in them too).
Nova Launcher will no longer show said application in the application drawer, although it will still be installed. You can keep opening it with another launcher or from the Android Settings, in the applications section.
In Action Launcher
The eternal rival of Nova Launcher also allows you to hide applications, and it does it in a very similar way. The first step is also a long tap on the app in the app drawer, and then choose the option Edit on the menu.
The difference is that you need to tap the menu button again (the three buttons vertically) to display an additional menu. There, uncheck the option Show in app drawer.
If you have thought hide many apps at once, you can do the same from the Action Launcher settings, in the section App drawer, last touching on Hidden apps.
In Samsung launcher
In the Samsung mobile launcher the process is slightly different, although there are also three steps. First you need to go to home screen settings, and one of the quickest ways to do it is with a long tap on an empty spot on the home screen.
Already in the settings, enter the section Hide apps. You must mark those applications that you want to hide and then touch Apply to save your settings. If you can’t find an app, you have a search engine at the top.
As in the rest of the cases, the application is hidden from here but you can continue opening it from the settings, applications section, or from the Secure Folder, if you install a copy of the app there.
In Evie Launcher
Evie Launcher is an interesting launcher that is light in size but not in functions. The way to hide applications in this launcher is the same as in Samsung. First of all you need to enter the launcher settings, with a long touch anywhere on the home screen.
In the settings, enter Hide apps and wait for it to load the list with all the applications you have installed. Check the box next to the apps you want to hide, and they will no longer be shown in the app drawer.
In Microsoft Launcher
In Microsoft Launcher the process starts from the application drawer. There you must tap on the menu button, top right, and choose Hidden apps. This opens a menu with all installed apps, in which you must mark in blue the ones you want to hide. For some reason the apps that are not marked also include the icon, but in gray.
In Lawnchair Launcher
In Lawnchair Launcher, inspired by Pixel Launcher but with more options, to hide an application you must make a long touch on it in the application drawer. In the menu that opens, choose Edit and then turn off the Visibility option.
You have probably realized by now that the process is very similar in all launchers, with two or three variations and small changes from one to the other. If you use any other launcher, try to see if you find options to the previous ones. If not, they probably don’t include the option.
