The Crown tundra for Pokémon Sword and Shield has arrived!
This DLC takes you on a journey to the southern reaches of the Galar region, where you can catch a host of Legendary Pokémon, including new Gen 8 Legends like Calyrex.
Before your adventure begins, however, it’s a good idea to make sure you can launch the Crown Tundra DLC.

How to start the Crown Tundra DLC in Pokémon Sword and Shield
If you want to visit Crown Tundra in Pokémon Sword and Shield, you must first purchase the Expansion Pass.
This pass can be easily purchased from the Nintendo Switch online store and includes both the Isle of Armor DLC and the Crown Tundra DLC.
Once you have purchased this pass, you will need to make sure that you have visited the Wild Area in the main story of the games at least once. This occurs approximately two hours after you have visited Professor Magnolia and left Wedgehurst Station for the first time.
If you are having trouble getting to the Wild Area or just want to know what to do ahead of time, read the guides below:
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: Postwick and Hop’s House
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: Sleeping Weald
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: Route 1
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: Wedgehurst and the Pokémon Laboratory
- Pokémon Sword and Shield: Route 2 and Professor Magnolia’s house
Traveling to Crown Tundra in Pokémon Sword and Shield
Once you have unlocked the ability to visit Crown Tundra in Pokémon Sword and Sword, you will automatically receive a Crown Pass. This pass can be found in your key item pocket and allows you to travel to the Crown Tundra.
Now, just like your first visit to the Isle of Armor, you need to make your way to Wedgehurst train station and go to the station attendant by the ticket office.
Talking to him will allow you to select the Crown Tundra station as your destination.
Once you disembark from the train, an investigator will update your Pokédex with the Crown Tundra Pokédex.
With him finally out in the wild, here’s how to get started with the Crown Tundra DLC and our full Pokémon Crown Tundra walkthrough. Also, here is how to catch Calyrex, Glastrier and Spectrier, Regieleki and Regidrago puzzle solving and Regirock, Regice, Registeel locations, details on how to catch legendary birds Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres in Crown Tundra, the adventure of Ultra Beasts and Necrozma, Dynamax Adventures, including the legends you can see on these adventures, and the new Crown Tundra Pokédex and returning Pokémon explained. For the base game, here is information on the ability to transfer Pokémon to Pokémon Home, the Wild Area, lists of all TM and TR locations, all Galar forms, and finally our main Pokémon Sword and Shield tutorial for the entire play.
