One Sunday afternoon, as he watched his 8-year-old daughter write on a piece of paper, designer Isaac León thought that it would be a shame if those childish traces ended up getting lost over time. That is why he decided to create Kidpofy.
“As parents, we always try to preserve every step they take through photography, videos … so the idea of being able to save the way they write when they are children made it very emotional and special,” he explains on his website .
Turning children’s handwriting into a fully functional digital typeface
The problem is that applications dedicated to transforming handwritten letters into digital typefaces are essentially designed for designers. For this reason, the same day he tried to digitize his daughter’s calligraphy, he contacted a partner, explained the idea and in a short time they joined the team that illuminated his initiative. Kidpofy was coming true.
This is how Kidpofy works
Kidpofy works through its web application specially optimized for use from mobile devices, both tablets and phones. Why? Because from them the children will be able to write much more comfortably. There is the possibility that they trace their letters with a computer mouse, but the result will not be the same. The letters, obviously, will be less similar to the authentic handwriting.
To start creating the typography of our son, niece, grandson … push the button Create font from the web or directly access the creation space from here.
First of all we will have to choose the language for which the lyrics will be used, for now we can choose between Spanish, English and Catalan, and then we will click on Start. After this initial configuration, the time will come for the child to write their letters one by one as Kidpofy asks for them.
The application will give the instructions to follow at all times to, when finished, give you the option to save the typography for free. Of course, during the quarantine. It is important that during the process each one of the characters is drawn within the guides that appear and that, in addition, all are drawn, in order to have the most complete typography possible.

Once the font is downloaded, it will be possible to install it on a computer in the usual way, as any other font is installed. In Windows, for example, by double-clicking on the font file and clicking on the button Install which will appear in the sample window.
What’s more, Kidpofy offers the possibility of acquiring physical products in which to write messages with children’s typography. A good way to help fund the initiative.
