The end-to-end encryption already arrived this week to the messaging application Facebook Messenger, but like Google Allo, this extra security protection will only be available through its new feature of secret conversations.
The news secret Facebook Messenger conversations allows us to send encrypted and ephemeral messages to our contacts, and its operation is very simple.
The first thing we have to do is activate the secret conversations from the tab of our profile, in the option “Secret conversations”. Secret conversations will be activated on a single device. There we can also eliminate all private conversations at once.
Once the option is activated, we can have a secret conversation with our contacts in two ways: From the switch in the contact search engine or from the information of a normal conversation by clicking between its options Secret conversation to open a new encrypted chat.
Once created a secret conversation already all our messages will be end-to-end encrypted. And the most striking thing about this new mode is that we can make our messages self-destruct.
In a secret conversation we can make our message cease to be visible after a certain time, which goes from 5 seconds to the day. Once the message has been visible, that time will be blurred to stop being visible, although in text messages it is still understood.
