One of the characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy S and Note range is its screen curved at the ends. When it was released, the models that included it had the nickname of Edge, honoring that area of the screen where we could find special functions.
And those same or very similar functions are which we can replicate on any Android phone with the free Edge Screen application that we can download from the Google Play Store. In my case I had gotten used to the Edge screen on the Note 9 and when I passed the OnePlus 7 Pro I missed it. And this app has helped me solve that absence.
Extra features at the fingertips
The application Edge Screen it doesn’t have too many secrets, which is not to say that it doesn’t offer interesting features. The same happens with the Edge screen of the Galaxy, this app replicates its main functions.
By sliding a finger from one of the sides of the screen we can display a extra panel with which to access a series of applications and functions. A kind of direct access that complements the shortcuts that we find at the top of our phones.
In this way we can leave the almost free screen icons and widgets since a good part of them is found in these two sections. The desktop can look neater and the main functions are still just a flick away.
At the time of configure Edge Screen (Once installed it is renamed Edge Action) we are going to come across options related to the transparency of the bar, its thickness (width) or the possibility that the phone vibrates when we unfold it.
In my case I have enabled the deployment to full screen and vibration, it helps me check that it works when I’m not looking at the mobile screen.
Another option it offers is to change the size, location and degree of transparency of the tab used to launch the application. In this way we can adapt it to our needs and make it not interfere with the desk of our phone.
The application is free and has optional purchases ****. In free mode you can work without problem, although after a few months of use I have decided to buy it. In this way I have access to the rest of the panels and new functions.
In basic mode we have access to actions such as access to contacts, applications, calculator, calendar, a music player … Contacts and applications are also customizable. We can add and rearrange everything to our liking and our needs. The free mode is more than enough for the vast majority of users.
