One of the recommendations that language teachers make the most to their students is reading in the language they are learning. Read, read and read. Although not everything is understood, carrying out this exercise helps to better understand structures and remember vocabularies.
And what better way than to do it with a website like paralleltext.io, which presents us with different classic works of literature that we can read in two languages simultaneously or with translations just one click away. We visualize e-books on-line, without having to download them.
If you are looking for bilingual books to help you learn and practice languages, this website provides them easily (and free)
Paralleltext.io, a great resource for learning and practicing languages
To access the bilingual books to practice and learn languages that this website provides us, we only have to access it from paralleltext.io, first of all select the language we speak and then choose the language that we would like to improve.
It will immediately appear to us a list with several books, eighteen in the event that we have said that we are Spanish speakers and want to improve our English, which we can select by clicking on their title to start reading them.
By default, paralleltext.io will show us the novels directly in the language we want to practice and with the option to translate each of the lines by placing our mouse on one of them and clicking on the icon of the two arrows to show its translation into Spanish and vice versa.
If what we want is for both Spanish and English editions to be shown to us simultaneously, we will have to click on the three horizontal lines that we find at the top right and select the option Split view. In this way, we will see both languages at the same time.
Finally, it should be noted that paralleltext.io allows us to hear how each part of a phrase sounds clicking on it. Very useful if we also want to practice pronunciation at the same time as we practice reading.
